In season 2011/12 the total attendance in the stadiums of the top division was 8,333,735 spectators, down 7.3% from the previous season (8,989,385). 
Juventus appears to be the team that attracts the most spectators in matches played away. Against the Bianconeri in Bergamo, Bologna, Catania, Cesena, Verona (Chievo), Florence, Genoa, Rome (Lazio), Lecce, Naples, Novara, Palermo, Siena and Udine was recorded as the best of the season for home attendance. 
Encounters with the greatest follow were the games between the milanese (Milan-inter 79,522 spectators, 78,222 spectators inter-Milan). Following the match Napoli-Juventus (57,402 spectators) and Lazio-Juventus (57,148 spectators).
