ROME, Aug. 7, 2012 – Another 48 hours and, on Thursday morning, the Disciplinary Committee will issue its sentences of first instance on the bets-scandal process of the acts of inquiry of the prosecution of the Republic of Cremona and Bari. The work of the five federal judges may leave room for surprises, even twists and turns: some of the demands of punishment advanced by the prosecutor of the ball Stefano Palazzi are likely to be canceled.
The biggest question mark, in fact, revolves around the credibility of one of repentant for the scandal, that Andrea Masiello who has pulled into the process, among others, Leonardo Bonucci and Simone Pepe. For Bonucci, Palazzi called for three years and six months disqualification; for Pepe one year, but the fate of the defender and midfielder is anything but marked: the defense of lawyers Chiappero and Bianchi has identified many weaknesses of the accusing theorem of the prosecution and would not be at all surprising to read the motivations of Disciplinary expectated in a few hours even the reason for an acquittal of the two players. at trial for the match Udinese-Bari, 9 May 2010.
The credibility of Andrea Masiello creaks, then. And seems to do also in the reflections of the Disciplinary which are about to complete.
The countdown has begun. Thursday, the five members of the court will make know their decision: if Bonucci and Pepe have reason to hope, different is the position of the technician Antonio Conte: for the former coach of Siena, on trial for double omitted denunciation during the period when he worked in Tuscan club, the orientation of the Disciplinary is to get to a disqualification in the first instance of ten months.
After August room to the proceedings on appeal, in September the opportunity for defenses to present an additional, and last, appeal to the TNAs, the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the Coni.
